Privacy policy
This policy explains what we do with your personal information. Makree Ltd, trading as Aster & Vale, is the data controller. Registered in England and Wales, company number 16927412, registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
What we collect
When you order: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number and the details of your order. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
When you email us: your email address and whatever you write to us.
When you sign up for emails: your email address, and nothing else.
When you browse: standard technical data — IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and what you clicked — collected by our store platform and by the cookies described below.
Why we use it
To take payment, to get your order made up, cleared through customs and delivered, to answer you when you get in touch, to handle returns and warranty claims, to keep the accounting records the law requires, and — if you have agreed to it — to send you email about new pieces. We also measure how our advertising performs.
Who we share it with
Our workshop partner and fulfilment agent in Guangdong, China, and the carrier, who need your name, address and phone number to make up and deliver your order and to clear it through customs. This means your delivery details are processed in China and shared with the customs authority of your own country.
Our payment provider and our store platform (Shopify), which host and process orders on our behalf.
Advertising and analytics providers, where you have accepted those cookies — see below.
Our accountants, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and advertising
Some cookies are necessary for the site to work — your basket, your session, security. These are always on.
We also use analytics and advertising cookies, including the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, to measure which adverts bring people to the site and to show our jewellery to people who have visited it. These run only where you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time through the cookie settings on this site or in your browser.
International transfers
Because our fulfilment partner is in China, your delivery details leave the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA we rely on the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose, or on the transfer being necessary to perform our contract with you — that is, to deliver the goods you ordered.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for seven years, which is what UK tax law requires. Email enquiries that do not become orders are deleted after 24 months. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it; every email we send has an unsubscribe link.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Email [info@astervale.co.uk] and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The current version always sits on this page.
