The workshops we walk

Suka is two people: one standing in the workshops in China, one answering you in English. We sell chandeliers made in Zhongshan, in Guangdong province — and specifically in Guzhen, the town inside Zhongshan that the industry calls the lighting capital.

The scale of it is hard to picture until you are there. Tens of thousands of lighting manufacturers and suppliers sit in one cluster, and by the industry's own figures the town accounts for around 70% of China's decorative lighting and roughly half of what the world hangs from its ceilings. A great many European lighting brands have their pieces made within a few streets of the workshops we visit.

Most of it is not worth your money

That is the other half of the truth. For every workshop doing real hand-blown glass and solid brass there are twenty pressing thin metal and calling it luxury. So we walk them. We look at how the glass is blown, whether the brass is solid or plated, whether the wiring would pass an inspection in Britain, and whether the people at the bench take any pride in it. What survives that filter is what you see on this site.

What we actually do for you

We are not a catalogue reseller. We stand in the workshop while your chandelier is made, inspect it before the balance is paid, film it lit so you see the real object rather than a render, and crate it properly in timber. We handle export paperwork, freight and customs, and we carry the risk if the glass does not survive the journey.

Why buy from China at all

Because this is where the work is done — and because the alternative is paying four times the price for the same bench, with a showroom on top. We would rather show you the workshop and charge for the part that is genuinely hard: choosing well, checking the work, and getting it to your ceiling in one piece.
